Drake’s New Music Video Features Will Smith and All of ‘Queer Eye’

Taylor Swift had better watch her back. Drake is building a squad and it is magnificent.

Will Smith. Phylicia Rashad talking about Taye Diggs. Millie Bobbie Brown. Ryan Seacrest. The entire cast of “Queer Eye”!

In a candy-colored meta spectacular, Drake released the video for his song “In My Feelings” off his “Scorpion” album Thursday night, and it’s a triumph. First of all, and not to be taken for granted, no one dies. It had us at Phylicia Rashad shouting at Drake, as her daughter’s philandering boyfriend,”I want you to leave! And don’t forget to go when you leave!” and held our interest through eight (eight!) minutes of pleasant auto-tuned, semi-surreal musical comedy.

A highlight is the appearance of rapper Jatavia Johnson, the mysterious “JT” whom Drake has been intent on freeing — she has been charged with identity theft, having allegedly stollen multiple credit cards. “The Defendant is a star!” Johnson’s lawyer argued at hearing requesting a 30 day delay of her prison sentence. Compelling stuff. Again, Taylor Swift, where is the felon member of your girl gang?

The “In My Feelings” video is very Drake — the perfect balance of celeb cameos, dancers joyfully twerking through the streets of New Orleans, a cute dog, and heavy-handed self-reference.
