Tiffany Haddish, Drake, and All The Jews Who Rocked The BET Awards

The 18th annual Black Entertainment Television Awards were held on Sunday night, and black Jews shone, taking home several major awards. Deadline has the full list of winners here.

America’s sweetheart Tiffany Haddish won Best Actress in a stacked category that included Angela Bassett and Lupita Nyong’o. Haddish, who has the beauty, charm, and talent of Jennifer Lawrence without the feeling that she was developed in a lab, won the nation’s heart this year in “Girls Trip,” and on Saturday Night Live. She’s now starring in “The Last O.G.” with Tracy Morgan and slated to come out in about one million movies, thank the lord.

Drake lost out on the Coca Cola Viewer’s Choice Awards (basically, Song of the Year) to rap hero Cardi B, but won Video of the Year for “God’s Plan.” We are glad to see he continues to take Jewish theology seriously.

Bruno Mars, who, yes, is a little bit Jewish, won Best Male R&B/Pop Artist Award, continuing his year of total dominance.

And 11 year-old Naomi Wadler was honored for the outstanding activism she displayed in her speech at March for Our Lives.

Finally, shout out to Ava DuVernay for beating Chris Brown for the Video Director of the Year Award. Neither of them are Jewish, but we’re just always psyched to see a woman beat Chris Brown.
