The Man Who Predicted Michael Jackson’s Death Releases Doc Criticizing Roger Waters’ BDS Involvement
In a new documentary, aptly titled “Wish You Weren’t Here”, author Ian Halperin launches an attack on Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters, an outspoken BDS advocate.
Halperin is best known for “predicting” (correctly!) the death of Michael Jackson but he’s also a prolific pop culture investigative reporter, responsible for books like “Celine Dion: Behind the Fairytale” and “Who Killed Kurt Cobain?” He’s dedicated the last two years to the Roger Waters documentary, in which he asks the questions: is Roger Waters an anti-semite? Is he a leader of the pro-BDS movement?
In an interview with Variety, Halperin says, “Throughout the film … the recurring question is why Waters singles out Israel? Why not Iran, Syria, and others who are extreme violators of human rights? And why, for almost six years, since Waters initially endorsed BDS has the world pretty much remained silent and let Waters laugh all the way to the bank, performing the highest-grossing tour ever among solo artists?”
Waters has not responded directly to Halperin but does not shy away from posting pro-BDS articles on his personal social media pages.
The film, which Halperin calls “very fair”, will come out in August. You can watch the extremely dramatic trailer below.
