Dianne Feinstein Doesn’t Let Comey Distract Her From Tradition

D.C. is abuzz with talk of James Comey’s Senate testimony but Senator Dianne Feinstein didn’t let the big day distract her from another big day: National Seersucker Day, or Seersucker Thursday.

Seersucker is a light, thin fabric often found at post-hazing fraternity events or your rich, Southern friend’s summer wedding. And once a year, it can be found on Senator Dianne Feinstein and, theoretically, her colleagues.

The tradition was birthed in 1996 by Senator Trent Lott of Mississippi, who thought The White House could use a little more Southern charm.

Today, in a White House devoid of any charm, Southern or otherwise, Feinstein honors the tradition in a fabulous seersucker suit.

Just goes to show, even when your world (or place of work) is crashing down around you, fashion never stops.
