Scarlett Johansson Might Be Your Next Local Politician

Scarlett Johansson has won a BAFTA, a Tony, was named this year’s biggest box office draw and recently opened up a popcorn shop in Paris.

What’s next for the actress?

Well, according to Johansson, it just might be running for office.

“I’ve always been interested in local politics. Right now, I think with my young daughter and also as my career’s going right now, it’s not the right time,” the “Ghost in the Shell” star said on Good Morning America last week. “Eventually, maybe when my daughter is older and I could totally focus myself on something like that, I think it could be interesting.”

Johansson is not entirely a stranger to the world of politics. The 32-year-old stumped for Barack Obama back in 2012, speaking at the Democratic National Convention, and attending campaign events. The actress also took to the podium during the Women’s March on Washington, to deliver a powerful speech in favor of Planned Parenthood.

“I’m not afraid to say what I feel is right just because I think that I’m gonna face criticism or some people might not like me,” she said on GMA. “If fighting for women’s rights — if that’s gonna mean that some people don’t want to buy a ticket to see Ghost in the Shell, I’m okay with that.”
