Will ‘Gilmore Girls’ Creator’s New Show Make For The Most Jewish TV Ever?
“Gilmore Girls” fans, take a long, deep breath.
Amy Sherman-Palladino, creator of the mother-daughter hit show, is coming out with a new TV pilot next week — and it looks delightfully Jew-y.
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” which lands on Amazon March 17th, centers around a 1950’s Jewish housewife who decides to break into the comedy business.
Per Amazon:
It’s 1958 Manhattan and Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan, House of Cards) has everything she’s ever wanted – the perfect husband, two kids, and an elegant Upper West Side apartment perfect for hosting Yom Kippur dinner. But her perfect life takes an unexpected turn and Midge discovers a previously unknown talent – one that changes her life forever. She charts a course that takes her from her comfortable life on Riverside drive, through the basket houses and nightclubs of Greenwich Village, as she storms the world of stand-up …a course that will ultimately lead her to a spot on Johnny Carson’s couch.
The cast also includes “Monk” star Tony Shalhoub and Alex Borstein (yup, that’s Drella and Miss Celine from “Gilmore Girls”).
Throw in some fast-talking and a few cups of coffee, and this could easily be an antidote for the gaping hole in our hearts since Loreli and Rory left the small screen.
