Secret Tel Aviv Reactions to Missing the Supermoon Once Again Prove Israelis Are Way Cooler Than Us

On Nov 14, the moon became full on the same day it reached the point in its orbit closest to the Earth (its perigee, for you science-y folks), creating a “Supermoon” which appeared “14 per cent bigger and up to 30 per cent brighter than usual” — in other words, bigger and brighter than it has been since Israel became a nation in 1948 and will again until 2034.
In Israel, the moon was its brightest around 6:00 p.m.
Some were able to get beautiful, clear shots of the moon looking its best:

My favorite reactions, however, came from some Israelis who took to the popular Facebook group Secret Tel Aviv, a self described ” space for all Tel Avivis to share their experiences and questions, meet new people, and learn about some of the Secrets of this awesome city,” to showcase their creative alternatives:

Zsolt Fejes posted a photo of a tortilla plastered to the window, adding, “If you miss the super moon today..never mind..DIY you still can have the same feeling..all you need is a tortilla, and the moment is restored.?”
Lisa Cretikos took to a simpler approach, snapping a pic of a humble potato with the caption, “Super moon seen from Israel last night in case you missed it!”
