Siri Mispronounced Barbra Streisand’s Name — So Babs Called Apple’s CEO
Barbra Streisand proves yet again she reigns over everyone.
The actress and singer called up Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO to complain that Siri – the iPhone voice assistant notorious for blundering – pronounces her last name wrong.
“She pronounces my name wrong. Streisand with a soft ‘s’ like sand on the beach,” said Streisand to Scott Simon during an NPR interview.
In a demonstration on air, Siri replaced the “s” in Streisand’s last name with a “z” to sound like Strei—zand.
“So what did I do? I called the head of Apple, Tim Cook,” she continued. “And he delightfully agreed to have Siri change the pronunciation of my name finally with the next update on September 30th.”
For the record, she pronounced that last word “Septembuh.”
Maybe she’ll next ask Cook to reprogram Siri to speak in a Brooklyn accent. We wouldn’t be mad about it.
