5 ‘Jewish’ Celine Dion Tunes For the Diva’s Birthday

March 30th is Celine Dion’s birthday. It’s been a tough year for her, after she lost her husband, Rene Angelil to cancer. Two days later, Dion’s brother, Daniel, died at age 59 of cancer too.

While the diva from Quebec is not a member of the tribe, she’s collaborated with some amazing Jewish artists.

Here are four of our favorite Celine collaborations and covers:

1) Jean-Jacques Goldman:

This famous French singer and song-writer wrote one of Celine’s biggest French hit “Pour Que Tu M’aimes Encore” (with an English version: “If That’s What it Takes”). Here they are singing it together:

2) Celine and Babs:

Of course Celine did a duet with Barbra Streisand, because divas are naturally drawn to each other. Here they are singing “Tell Him” together:

3) Songwriter Jim Steinman:

Steinman wrote one of Celine’s biggest hits from the 90s, “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” which comes with it’s own candle lit, lightening filled music video. The 90s are all coming back to us now just watching it.

4) Eric Carmen:

Celine Dion’s cover of Carmen’s “All By Myself” made it into the opening scene of “Bridget Jones” diary, where Renee Zellweger lip-synched her rendition in PJs while guzzling wine. It’s a dramatic rendition if ever there was one.

5) Diane Warren:

Warren wrote this song as an ode to her father. Celine Dion’s rendition of the moving tune was featured in “Up Close & Personal,” won a Grammy’s Award and was nominated for an Academy Award.
