Larry David Brings Bernie Back to SNL, Apologizes for Your Facebook Wall

Larry David made a much awaited comeback in Saturday Night Live yesterday when he reprised the role of Bernie Sanders in the show’s cold open.

In the sketch, Bernie Sanders celebrates big win in Michigan and apologizes for his supporters’ social media zealotry.

“I want to thank everyone who voted for me, and apologize to everyone else for making your Facebook feeds so, so annoying.”

“I love my supporters, but they’re too much, right?” David said as Sanders, “I’m great but I’m not five posts a day great.”

David’s Sanders also kvetched about superdelegates, “I’ve met some of these superdelegates, they’re not so super, mediocre delegates is more like it.”

Saturday Night Live also made fun of Sanders’s lack of success with minorities: “My message is resonating with a very diverse group of white people, and I’ve got supporters of all ages, 18-year-olds and 19-year-olds.”

David as Sanders also explained why he hasn’t been campaigning in Florida, one of five states running primaries on Tuesday.

“Can you blame me? Who wants to spend time in Florida?” he asked. “The only reason you go to Florida is if your sister calls and says, ‘Mom’s dead, you got to go to Florida.’”

Watch the hilarious bit below, from minute 2:00 to 4:50, and minute 6:04 for Bernie Sanders in his PJs:

“Saturday Night Live” also satirized Hillary Clinton’s campaign by having her turn into the senator from Vermont.

The parody ad broadcast that aired Saturday on NBC took aim at two of Clinton’s perceived weaknesses: A record of what her critics say is one of shifting positions, and her losing younger voters to Sanders, I-Vt., who is mounting a surprisingly strong challenge to become the Democratic presidential nominee.

In the satirical ad, Kate McKinnon, the troupe member who impersonates Clinton, begins to pronounce words like “billionaire” in Sanders’ New York baritone, changes into a baggy suit, talks about her boyhood in Brooklyn and finally says: “Thank you millennials for lending your support to the biggest outsider Jew in the race.”
