J.J. Abrams Stakes Claim to ‘Most Nebbishy Jewish Director’ Title

Writer, director, and producer J.J. Abrams visited the Daily Show on Thursday — and owned up to being the “most nebbishy Jewish director ever.”
His new film, “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation,” the fifth film in the Mission Impossible franchise hit theaters on July 31. So naturally Jon immediately quipped: “let’s talk about Star Wars.”
For those of you who have been living under a rock for the last few months, or do not know any Star Wars fan, Abrams is producing the upcoming “Star Wars” sequel, slated to come out December 18.
Most of the original cast from the first trilogy is back: Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and of course, Harrison Ford.
Unsurprisingly, Abrams said Harrison Ford is just as awesome as Han Solo in real life.
Case in point: at one point during filming, a hydraulic door fell on Ford in a stunt gone wrong, breaking his ankle. Abrams rushed to his aid, and actually broke his back trying to lift the door.
A few months later, Abrams is still wearing a back brace, and Harrison Ford sprints to greet him on set, making Abrams feel like the “most nebbishy Jewish director, ever.”
