Teeing Off For Einstein College of Medicine
It was a glorious sunny day of “putts” and “ volleys” for the more than 130 participants in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s 53rd Annual Golf & Tennis Tournament and Dinner at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, New York, which honored Peter S. Duncan, President and CEO of George Comfort & Sons, Inc. with the Albert Einstein Humanitarian Award.
Welcomed by Martin Luskin Chairman of Einstein’s Professional & Leadership Division (formerly known as the Men’s Division) and a member of the Einstein Board of Overseers, it was a sporting day-long event for the “philanthropic athletes” who topped off the day with a dinner, raffle and auction and a lucky winner getting “a year’s worth of parking in Manhattan!”
Luskin, a nationally recognized maven in counseling clients in complex commercial real estate transactions, mergers and leveraged buy-outs, introduced Einstein College’s Dean Allen M. Spiegel M.D. who touted Einstein’s seminal work, researching cures and treatments to help eliminate cancer and diseases such as Ebola.
Neil Clark, a past honoree, presented the award to Duncan who—in his autobiographical recitative—noted that both his parents had worked in medical research. “My father was a physician and researcher in the field of genetics” [which is why] Einstein’s goals are dear to his heart.” His coda: “My parents taught me that helping others should be the staple of one’s existence.”
Though not a golfer, were Einstein to add ping-pong, rowing or kayaking to the tournament activity roster — I’m game!
