Best of the Super Bowl
While some of us are actually excited about the Super Bowl every year, the rest of us just look forward to the creative commercials aired during the big game.
The best part is that you don’t even have to watch any football to see them. In fact, the following spots, featuring some of our favorite Jewish celebs and Israeli products, were available for viewing online well before the first kickoff in New Orleans on Sunday.
People haven’t been able to stop taking their eyes off Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli sucking face with nerdy-looking actor Jesse Heiman in this “smart meets sexy” 30-second commercial for Go Daddy.
Two other versions of the spot were rejected by CBS for being too indecent. Here’s one that got the ax for way too much tongue:
First, we were treated to a 1-minute long spot with funnymen Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd trying to pitch advertising ideas for Samsung’s “Next Big Thing,” but being told they couldn’t actually mention anything that has to do with the Super Bowl.
Then, the full-length ad came out, with the two not only pitching ideas for selling the Samsung Galaxy, but also trying to one-up each other in terms of star power. Sorry guys, but—as we find out at the end of the spot—neither of them can compete with a certain NBA player when it comes to being the next big thing.
We’d been looking forward to seeing what Israeli company SodaStream would come up with for its Super Bowl ad. It ended going with this one:
But, only after this original one got banned for bashing Coke and Pepsi:
