Dunham, Others Sing ‘You Don’t Own Me’

Yes, that’s “Girls” showrunner Lena Dunham, style rookie Tavi Gevinson, and designer Rachel Antonoff in the “You Don’t Own Me” PSA video that is going viral. These three, along with many other women — especially Leslie Gore (who recorded the song in 1964) — sing it out (or at least lip dub) for women’s rights and freedoms — and for President Obama’s re-election.

ABC has bought a new TV comedy series that the multi-talented Zach Braff will executive produce, write and direct. The show, “Garage Bar,” will focus on a group of friends whose lives change when one of them achieves pop-stardom.

Everyone who supported Anthony Ervin’s Indiegogo campaign got a big return on investment when the swimmer won four gold medals at the World Cup meet in Berlin this past weekend. With one of those wins, he broke the American record for 50 SCM, with a time of 20.85 seconds. Now it’s on to more meets in Beijing, Tokyo and Singapore for Ervin.

To prepare 200 residents of a remote Amazonian village who have never seen a movie to be extras in his upcoming cannibalism horror movie, filmmaker Eli “Bear Jew” Roth showed them the controversial 1980’s Mondo classic “Cannibal Holocaust.” Roth reported, “The villagers thought it was the funniest thing they’d ever seen.”

Harvey Weinstein has made sure that President Obama will have an actual starring role in “Seal Team Six,” the film he produced about the killing of Osama bin Laden that will be aired on the National Geographic Channel two days before the election.

Adam Levine was honored on Wednesday evening at GQ’s Gentlemen’s Ball for his work with the Teen Impact program at the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. But what people really wanted to know was how he is getting along with his fellow “The Voice” judges Shakira and Usher.

In case you missed it, here is the Kveller blog post in which Mayim Bialik recounted in detail the fabulous, yet heimish (not mention vegan), birthday party she threw for her 7-year-old son.

With her new movie, “Cloud Atlas” coming out, filmmaker Lana Wachowski, gave a moving speech about her transgender experience. Wachowski, who now sports a pink dreadlocks bob hairstyle with matching lipstick, used to go by the first name Larry back when she made “The Matrix” with her brother Andy.

And we’ll close with some recent Jewish celeb sightings: Adam Sandler filming his daughter’s karaoke performance; Winona Ryder flashing some cleavage on the set of her new movie; Gwyneth Paltrow and hubby Chris Martin taking their kids toy shopping; Anne Hathaway and new husband Adam Shulman drinking coffee and walking their dog in New York; Jonah Hill walking and talking with a mystery date; and Isla Fisher simply looking cute with her tutu-wearing little girl.
