Letter | Amazon is no Hannukah miracle
Dear Editor,
One can only imagine The Forward’s founder Abe Cahan spinning in his grave at the current Forward editor’s inclusion of Amazon on her list of things to be thankful for this Hanukkah. In her latest piece, Jodi Rudoren included Amazon in her piece “What to do about Hanukkah 2020? Count your miracles.”
In some semblance of self awareness, Rudoren dubs the selection “controversial,” which doesn’t denote much of anything. I’d characterize the choice as reflective of how the paper’s proudly progressive, socialist roots and voice are burning low, at best.
A Hanukkah miracle worthy of The Forward’s attention is not Amazon’s convenience, but would rather be one of the world’s richest companies stopping its fight against its workers’ rights to organize.
Sincerely, Jason Gitlin
