Bill Kristol Steps Down as Editor of Weekly Standard
Bill Kristol, the Jewish neoconservative who famously led opposition to Donald Trump, has stepped down from his post as editor of the Weekly Standard after 21 years.
Kristol will continue to write for the magazine as an editor at large.
Kristol helped found the Weekly Standard and built it into the preeminent intellectual voice of neoconservatism and provided a platform for many of the movement’s top voices, including his father, Irving Kristol.
He clashed with Trump throughout the 2016 election season and led a #neverTrump group of conservative intellectuals who refused to back the mogul in the general election.
Trump responded by branding Kristol a “loser” and the Trump-aligned Breitbart News called him a “renegade Jew” for failing to back the GOP nominee.
