Hundreds March To Support Israel in Warsaw
WARSAW, Poland — Several hundred people participated in a march of support for Israel in Warsaw.
Sunday’s march was organized by Christian organizations operating in Poland. It was also attended by Polish Jews. The marchers carried Israeli and Polish national flags, and sang and danced as they marched, the Jewish.pl website reported.
“I’ve never seen such a large demonstration of support for Israel,” said Israel’s ambassador to Poland, Anna Azari, during remarks thanking the march’s participants.
The premise of the march was to support Israel in the face of a third intifada. The march reportedly was peaceful and calm, even though a small group of representatives of the National Rebirth of Polish tried to disrupt it, waving flags of the Palestinian Authority.
“When Polish and European media report on events in Israel it is often unreliable and negative for Israelis. I walked in the march, carrying the flag of the State of Israel, to demonstrate my support for the country and convey to Israelis that they are not alone,” Pawel Czyszek, editor of the Polish Jews Forum, told JTA.
