Israeli Woman Dies at 124 Years Old

An Arab-Israeli woman believed to be 124 years old has died.

Mariam Amash, who was listed with Israel’s population registry as being born in 1888, died on Saturday in the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera, the Ynet news website reported,

Her age listed in her national identity card was based on a birth certificate issued by Turkish authorities.

Amash had 10 children and some 200 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, according to Ynet. Her age was never officially confirmed, but if it had been she would be the oldest living female ever in the world.
