Berman Gets Support of New PAC

A thid political action committee has reportedly been formed with the goal of backing the reelection of Los Angeles Rep. Howard Berman, who is locked in a dogfight with fellow Jewish Democratic Rep. Brad Sherman.

The Committee to Elect an Effective Valley Congressman plans to sponsor “various types of communications in support of [Berman],” Assistant Treasurer Fredric Woocher told Politico.

The so-called super PAC may raise and spend unlimited sums of money to independently promote Berman.

Wocher refused to tell Politico who is behind the super PAC. In November, the Valley-Israel Alliance super PAC formed to specifically promote Berman. The Rebuilding America super PAC has also pledged support for him.

Berman and Sherman are facing off in a primary battle because redistricting dumped them both in the same district.

Berman has scooped the vast majority of endorsements from his Congressional colleagues. But both men admit that Sherman started the race with a better grass-roots support in the San Fernando Valley-based district.
