J Street is a Washington, D.C.-based lobbying group which describes itself as “the political home for pro-Israel, pro-peace Americans.” J Street was founded in April 2008 to offer a new voice in the American political conversation about Israel. The group strongly promotes a two-state solution and makes clear that it does not support all Israeli government policies. J Street’s affiliates include an education fund, a university organizing arm called J Street U and a federal political action committee, JStreetPAC.

Jeremy Ben-Ami is the president and founder of J Street. Before joining J Street, Ben-Ami worked on seven presidential campaigns, including a stint as national policy director for Howard Dean’s presidential campaign, and served as deputy domestic policy advisor to the Clinton administration. He also previously served as senior vice president of Fenton Communications before leaving to start J Street. Ben-Ami is a graduate of New York University Law School and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Relations at Princeton University.
