British Jewish Student Activist Called a ‘Disgusting Kapo’ by Facebook Harassers
A candidate for president of the U.K.’s largest Jewish student organization is the target of social media harassment for his pro-Palestinian activism, the London Jewish Chronicle reported.
Facebook users have called Eran Cohen, a leading candidate to run the Union of Jewish Students, a “disgusting Kapo” and a “self-hating Jew,” according to the paper.
Cohen, an undergraduate student at York University, supports the BDS movement and has been active in pro-Palestinian student groups.
UJS represents Jewish students in the U.K. and Ireland. Its student leaders are elected by a vote of the members.
The group’s executive director, David Brown, issued a Facebook statement asking for the harassment to stop, according to the Chronicle.
“Some of the ‘grown-ups’ in our community need to follow the lead of our students and engage with ideas they oppose with far more respect and civility,” Brown said.
