Angela Buchdahl
It is great to hear the variety and range of Jewish music—its many sounds, texts, and languages. Music is a reflection of the soul of a community, and this project reminded me that our Jewish community is diverse and thriving. — Angela Buchdahl
Rabbi/Cantor Angela Warnick Buchdahl began her Jewish professional life as a songleader at URJ Camp Swig. From the foothills of the Santa Cruz mountains to the bima at Central Synagogue, Jewish music has provided the soundtrack for her Jewish life and a language for connecting with Jews around the world. She was the first woman to be ordained as both a Rabbi and a Cantor, and the first ordained Asian American Rabbi or Cantor. Rabbi/Cantor Buchdahl currently serves as the Senior Rabbi of Central Synagogue in New York, where she previously served as Senior Cantor. She lives in New York City with her husband, Jacob Buchdahl and three children.
