Jewish Lawmakers Say No to Bush’s Saudi Aid Plan
The administration’s Saturday announcement of the new aid package to Saudi Arabia and Israel caught many lawmakers by surprise. But it took less than 24 hours for leading foreign policy congressmen to make clear that if Bush wants to pour money on Saudi Arabia, he better get ready for a fight on Capitol Hill. Leading the opposition are Jewish lawmakers Tom Lantos, Anthony Weiner, Eliot Engel and Robert Wexler.
