JEWISH. INDEPENDENT. NONPROFIT.
Life

If you’re a young reader, we want to hear from you. What are your favorite things right now?

Since shelter-in-place orders took effect across America, we’ve published plenty of personal essays, opinion pieces and news about how adults in society are handling life inside. We’ve written about those who wear pants every day and those eschewing them completely. We’ve heard about the challenges you’ve set yourselves, like reading all of Proust — or not — and the hilarious impossibility of fulfilling homeschooling obligations and keeping kids occupied all day.

But what about the kids themselves, the ones trying to keep up with Zoom school or shaking their weary parents down for extra screen time? Their lives have been just as disrupted ours — and even math class in pajamas gets old eventually.

So we’d like to hear from the Forward’s smallest readers about what life is really like these days. (If you’re a parent, please pass the message along!) Send a video snapshot of your days in quarantine to photos@forward.com. They can be silly or serious, simple or creative — whatever you’re feeling!

Here are some things we’d like to know:

  1. What do your Shabbat preparations look like?
  2. How are you helping others?
  3. What are your words of inspiration?
  4. What’s the best thing you did today? An art project you enjoyed? A book you’re reading? A new game?

To get you thinking, here’s how the kids of the Forward staff are spending their days.

Editor-in-chief Jodi Rudoren’s daughter Shayna is an artist; she has been asking for prompts on her instagram and drawing her interpretation each day. She showed us her favorites:

Marketing Director Deena Kuperman’s daughter proudly detailed the numerous ways her family has been helping others during the pandemic.

And Deena’s son has apparently found joy in that pandemic fundamental skill — handwashing!

Now we’d love to hear from your kids! Send us your videos at photos@forward.com.
