VIDEO: Watch us prepare tzimmes for Rosh Hashanah that’s not overly sweet
This article originally appeared in the Yiddish Forverts.
Tzimmes is a stew, often served for Rosh Hashanah, made of carrots, sweet fruits and vegetables; meat is sometimes added, as well. The dish is a Rosh Hashanah staple due to the tradition of eating sweet foods in honor of the new year.
In this episode of “Est Gezunterheyt” (“Eat in Good Health”), Rukhl Schaechter and Eve Jochnowitz demonstrate how to make two different versions of tzimmes, one with meat and one vegetarian, both with no added sugar or honey. The results are scrumptious!
