New York’s Greek-Jewish community will spill out onto the streets of the Lower East Side this Sunday to join in the delicious fun of the third-annual Jewish Greek Festival. The event is organized by the Kehila Kedosha Janina Synagogue, the only Romaniote synagogue in the Western Hemisphere and a major center for the Greek-Jewish diaspora.

Beginning at 12 p.m, the outdoor festival will have traditional Greek foods, including pastries, Greek dancing led by the Hellenic Dancers of New Jersey, Greek and Sephardic live music and performances from the Stavros Theodorou Orchestra and others. There will also be a marketplace with vendors and arts activities for children. The food will be kosher — there will even be super-kosher cholov yisrael cheese.

The festival will be held on Broome Street between Allen and Eldridge, the block where the Romaniote synagogue stands.
