Stephen Colbert Smears Trump With Hummus Joke
It’s past my bedtime, but I’ve been glued to the TV tonight, watching the news unfold. Seriously, if you blink you miss something HUGE.
Since we all know that the best televised take on the day’s events comes from the late-night comedy shows, I tuned into Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” monologue for some perspective.
And how glad I am that I did.
As he relayed the news that Trump spewed classified information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador — already old hat given the more recent revelations of James Comey’s memos — Colbert remarked that the President’s upcoming trip to Israel was coming at a particularly inopportune moment, given that Israel was the source of the covert information.
“This is really going to be an awkward state dinner,” Colbert cracked. “Mr. Trump, would you please pass the hummus…or would you prefer to pass it directly to Russia?”
Ba-duh-bum. And goodnight.
