No sooner did the iconic H&H Bagels reopen on the Upper West Side did bloggers start crying “fake”!
We’ll let Gothamist explain:
“Much like the sham that is our democracy, this false idol is only vaguely related to the old H&H Bagels that shuttered in 2011 and was beloved by President Obama,” wrote Rebecca Fishbein.

“The shop is actually an outpost of H&H Midtown Bagels East, which, confusingly, is located on 2nd Ave between 80th and 81st Streets — that store was once owned by Helmer Toro, the proprietor of the dearly departed Upper West Side shop and its 46th Street wholesale bakery, but has since been taken over by different ownership.”
