Ivanka goes to Georgia to campaign for Loeffler and Perdue

The White House responded to President-elect Joe Biden’s trip to Georgia to campaign for Democratic Senate candidates Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock with a headliner of their own.

The president’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, arrived in the state on Monday, where she spoke at a rally for Republican incumbents Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue ahead of a runoff election on Jan. 5.

Republican losses in the state would hand the Senate majority to Democrats, eroding the president’s achievements and breaking the so-called Republican Senate “firewall” — a term coined by Loeffler — against the incoming Biden administration’s agenda, she said.

“We need David and Kelly in the Senate to keep our economy going, to keep delivering on the president’s plans and to keep our schools open,” Trump said.

While Trump spoke, her father blasted Georgia’s Republican leadership on Twitter for not backing his baseless claims of election fraud. The younger Trump, who is rumored to have Senate ambitions of her own, made no mention of his claims at the rally.

Also in Georgia on Monday was Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, who was stumping for Ossoff and Warnock.

Harris stressed the importance of turning the Senate blue for the Biden administration.

“We will need Jon and Raphael in the United States Senate,” Harris said.
