A former Israeli Knesset member from the country’s Druze religious minority is accusing American Jews of having no “gratitude,” and of “betrayal,” for voting overwhelmingly for former Vice President Joe Biden.

On Twitter, Ayoob Kara, who served as a member of the Likud party until 2019, said that he was surprised American Jews did not support Trump, who he called the “best American president for the State of Israel.”

An exit poll conducted for J-street found that some 77% of American Jewish voters supported Biden, while only 21% voted for the president in the 2020 election.

Israelis have tended to support Trump throughout his presidency. A poll by Israel’s Channel 12 published Friday found that 54% of Israelis favored Trump compared to only 21% who favored Biden.

On Monday, that broad popularity on the Israeli right led leaders of the settlement movement, along with Republicans Overseas Israel, to organized a special prayer service for the president’s reelection at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron.
