‘Pray for the wholeness of the nation!’ Orthodox social media groups pray for Trump
“Oh pray for the wholeness of the nation!” says the image in Hebrew, “Donald John son of Mary Anne for a complete recovery.”
Including the patients’ given name along with their mother’s given name is the standard construction in Jewish prayers for recovery.
The president announced that he had tested positive for the virus shortly after his close adviser Hope Hicks did Thursday night.
As Orthodox Jews pray for the recovery of the president, Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens are themselves centers of a resurgent virus in New York state.
In some neighborhoods, such as those in the so-called Ocean-Parkway Cluster which includes the heavily orthodox neighborhood of Borough Park, infection rates are as high as 5%.
