Trump nominates Gorka for national security education role

President Trump nominated former aide Sebastian Gorka to serve on the board that oversees the federal government’s national security education program.

An April 2017 Forward investigation revealed that Gorka, then a White House counterterrorism advisor, had decades-long associations with Hungarian groups that had historic Nazi ties.

Gorka continued to serve in the White House until August of that year, pivoting afterwards to becoming a right-wing radio host and political commentator.

Trump nominated him and one other person on Tuesday for a four-year term on the board overseeing the National Security Education Program, which oversees initiatives to recruit and train government national security operatives.

The appointment was criticized by Democratic Rep. Don Beyer of Virginia.
