Joe Lieberman Takes Another Dig At ‘Silly’ AOC
Former Senator Joe Lieberman is going strong with his criticism of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the New York Post reported.
Lieberman returned to Fox News on Sunday, reiterating on “Sunday Morning Futures” why he doesn’t see the freshman congresswoman as the future of the Democratic Party.
“She just takes us back to the big-spending, big-taxing Democratic Party, and the Democratic Party is not going to succeed that way,” he said.
On Thursday, the former senator of Connecticut said Ocasio-Cortez was too “different” and “controversial” for the party, which he says has shifted to the center of the political spectrum.
“With all respect, I certainly hope she’s not the future and I don’t believe she is,” he said.
Ocasio-Cortez, a self-described Democratic socialist, responded by tweeting, “New party, who dis?” Lieberman dismissed it as “kind of silly.”
“Here’s my point,” he added. “We only have two major political parties in America. They have to be big tents if they’re going to succeed. So, OK, she got elected to Congress — she’s inside the tent now, but I just disagree.”
