Miracle Baby Fights For Life After Israeli Pregnant Mom Shot In Terror Attack

Doctors delivered a baby Sunday night after the Israeli mother was shot and critically wounded in a terrorist attack in the West Bank, the Times of Israel reported.

The baby boy’s health is declining, following reports of being in stable condition after being delivered by Cesarean section at 30 weeks. He is now hooked up to a ventilator and being treated in the neonatal intensive care unit.

“A pregnant woman who loses so much blood cannot provide the oxygen needed for the baby in her abdomen,” Alon Schwartz, a surgeon at Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center, told Army Radio. “This was apparently the harm to the baby that we discovered.”

The 21-year-old mother went into surgery Sunday and is now in stable condition. Earlier the hospital said she was “fighting for her life.” She had a gun shot wound in the lower stomach area, and also suffered trauma to her upper body.

The surgeon said she regained consciousness but is still in danger.

She was waiting with a crowd of people at a bus stop outside the Israeli West Bank settlement of Ofra when she was shot by someone in a passing car, according to The Times of Israel. Her husband was among those mildly injured.

The Israeli Defense Forces are looking for the shooters.
