Israel Unions Call Off Planned General Strike
Israel’s main public sector union called off a general strike planned for Wednesday in protest at construction-site deaths, saying the government had agreed to approve safety standards.
The strike would have shut down airports, banks and government offices. A Finance Ministry spokeswoman confirmed that a deal had been reached in negotiations with the union on Tuesday.
