BREAKING: Pittsburgh Gunman Robert Bowers Wants A Trial, Pleads ‘Not Guilty’

The gunman who killed 11 at prayer in a Pittsburgh synagogue, allegedly yelling, “All Jews must die,” pleaded not guilty on Thursday.

Robert Bowers walked into the courtroom in downtown Pittsburgh at about 10 a.m., wearing a red jumpsuit and bandage on his upper left arm, Forward staff writer Ari Feldman reported from the scene.

The judge entered at 10:05 a.m., and prosecutors proceeded with their indictment, noting that Bowers faced the possibility of the death penalty. All the while, Bowers looked directly and calmly at the prosecutors, Feldman observed.

Bowers pleaded not guilty and requested a jury trial. Prosecutors estimate a three to four week trial, at least.
