Jewish Activist Turns BrettKavanaughInto A #MeToo Resource

The homepage of BrettKavanaugh bears text reading “We Believe Survivors” superimposed over an image of the Supreme Court. The owner of the URL? Gabe Roth, the founder of a grassroots organization that advocates for transparency in the federal court system, bought it years ago.
“During the run up to the 2016 election, I thought it would be smart to buy the websites of possible SCOTUS picks on both the left and the right,” Roth told the Forward. Among the dozen URLs that he owns include MerrickGarland.net and JudgeGorsuch.com.
The websites all redirect to the homepage of Fix The Court, the non profit organization that Roth started four years ago— except for Brett Kavanaugh.com, which was updated following accusations of Kavanuagh’s alleged sexual misconduct with multiple women during high school and college, including Christine Blasey Ford, a professor who testified against him.
The allegations against Kavanaugh coincided with the High Holidays, which Roth told the Forward inspired him to take action. “During the run up to Yom Kippur, the focus is on forgiveness and thinking about how to become a better person. Like a lot of Jews, I was thinking about those things during this time, which made me especially surprised by the way that Brett Kavanaugh wasn’t open to the possibility that he’d have memory gaps due to excessive drinking in the past,” Roth said.
Kavanaugh, who has denied the allegations, was confirmed to the court on Saturday by a Senate vote of 50-48. President Trump praised his nominee following the vote, while falsely stating that an FBI investigation into the claims had found him innocent.
The URL provides contact information for the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, End Rape on Campus and the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network.
“We as a country can and should do more to prevent [sexual assault] and to support those who have experienced it,” BrettKavanuagh.com reads. “This past month, thousands of survivors came forward to tell their stories. We applaud your bravery. We believe you.”
