Kushner Deployed To Schmooze With Rich Republicans And Snag Campaign Donations
White House senior adviser Jared Kushner is attempting to woo wealthy members of Republican elite into donating to GOP midterm efforts and President Trump’s reelection campaign, Politico reported Monday.
Kushner has attended several donor gatherings since August, and he plans to keep his calendar full, people close to him told Politico. Kushner has also been using the opportunity to perform damage control, setting his sights on wealthy Republicans originally snubbed by Trump.
Kushner reportedly recently schmoozed at an event for the American Opportunity Alliance in New York City, where he assured those with heavy pockets that the Trump administration was full of serious people striving for success.
It’s a strategy that differs significantly from the one his father-in-law employed throughout the 2016 campaign. Trump reportedly cut ties with the GOP’s wealthiest donors, many of whom gave their monetary support to Hillary Clinton, according to the Atlantic.
In recent meetings with Kushner, however, several skeptical donors left feeling reassured, according to Politico.
