Goldman Sachs’ Next CEO Moonlights As An Electronic Dance DJ
David Solomon, Goldman Sachs’ next chief executive, soon to be one of the most powerful figures on Wall Street, is also an electronic dance DJ.
When he’s not in the office, Solomon is a part-time DJ, spinning records in New York and Miami clubs under the name DJ D-Sol, CNN Money reported.
“[I] kind of stumbled into it as a hobby, and now I just do it for fun,” Solomon said in a podcast last year.
He said he was interested in club and EDM music, and also thinks they are growing businesses.
Goldman Sachs is expected to name Solomon as its next chief executive early this week, according to people briefed on the plan. The announcement would formally confirm Solomon as the successor to Lloyd Blankfein, who boasted record earnings during his 12 years leading the company. He will stay on for an interim period, the New York Times reported.
Solomon, 56, has been considered the next in line since he was named the firm’s sole president in March. But a formal announcement of his ascent had not been expected until the fall.
