National Council Of Jewish Women Relocating To DC, CEO Departing

The National Council of Jewish Women will relocate their headquarters from New York to DC this September.
NCJW announced in a press release on Wednesday that the move will “better position the organization for its critical policy and advocacy work advancing social and economic justice for women, children, and families.”
NCJW CEO Nancy Kaufman will oversee the transitional period before stepping down in June 2019. Kaufman has been with the organization for seven years, after two decades running the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston.
“Given the current administration’s regressive policies, women, children and families urgently need even more advocates on the Hill, near the Oval Office and in the halls of power in D.C. to ensure that their voices are heard. Now more than ever, we need to be on the frontlines as we respond to the daily attacks on marginalized communities,” Kaufman said. “At the same time, I look forward to the next chapter in my own career and to new challenges as I continue my work in advancing social change and in mentoring the next generation of Jewish women to take on the mantle of leadership.”
The move will more than double the presence of NCJW staffers in Washington, which the organization says will allow it to further advance campaigns on pressing issues such as judicial nominees and reproductive rights.
