‘Unpredictable’ Trump Deserves Credit For Korea, Democratic Rep. Schiff Admits
A leading Democratic critic of President Trump, Rep. Adam Schiff, admitted on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday that the president deserved “some credit” for bringing North Korea to the negotiating table.
But Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, also said that it is likely that “things will go south.”
Schiff predicted that Trump might not want to take too much responsibility for how things turn out in the end.
“I think it’s more than fair to say that the combination of the president’s unpredictability and indeed his bellicosity had something to do with North Korea’s willingness to come to the table,” Schiff said. “But before the president takes too much credit or hangs out the ‘mission accomplished’ banner, he needs to realize we may go into a confrontational phase, and he may not want the full blame if things go south.”
