Harvey Weinstein’s Lawyers Say Women – Like Meryl Streep And Jennifer Lawrence – Love Him

Harvey Weinstein’s lawyers argued in court papers that Weinstein is beloved by women — just ask Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence. The claims were made in documents filed to try and get a case of sexual harassment thrown out, Page Six reported.

The lawyers, Phyllis Kupferstein and Roxanna A. Manuel, are attempting to block a class-action lawsuit filed by actresses who claim Weinstein sexually harassed them. The class would include “all women who met with Harvey Weinstein in person to audition for or to discuss involvement in a project to be produced or distributed by either The Weinstein Company Holdings or Miramax.”

“These proposed class definitions are fatally overbroad as to be not ascertainable,” Kupferstein and Manuel wrote.

“Such women would include, presumably, Jennifer Lawrence, who told Oprah Winfrey she had known Weinstein since she was 20 years old and said ‘he had only ever been nice to me,’ and Meryl Streep, who stated publicly that Weinstein had always been respectful to her in their working relationship,” the lawyers added.

The lawyers also targeted actress Gwenyth Paltrow for accusing Weinstein of sexually harassing her during the filming of the 1994 movie “Emma” and then agreeing to star in his movie “Shakespeare In Love.”
