George Soros Spent Record Sum On Lobbying Against Trump’s Agenda

The Open Society Policy Center, the lobbying group affiliated with George Soros’ philanthropies, spent $16.1 million last year on federal lobbying, according to the group’s final quarter filings reported by Roll Call.

The funding, reportedly a record sum, was significantly higher than the previous year. Most of the money was spent in the final months of 2017, trying to convince members of Congress to adopt the group’s liberal agenda on issues relating to national security, human rights, immigration and taxes.

One of the key issues Soros’s group is lobbying for is an effort to prevent an American military strike against North Korea without receiving prior authorization from Congress. The Open Society Policy Center also provided funding for lobbying efforts aimed at restricting the use of nuclear weapons and at legislation curbing international human trafficking.
