British Government To Fund Trips To Auschwitz To Combat Campus Anti-Semitism

The British government has allocated £144,000, or $200,000, to send university faculty and students on trips to Auschwitz as part of an initiative to help fight campus anti-Semitism, the Jewish Chronicle reported.

“We all have a duty to speak out in the memory of those who were murdered during the Holocaust and all those, today, who are the subject of hatred and antisemitism,” said Sajid Javid, the Secretary for Housing, Communities and Local Government, in announcing the program Wednesday.

The program is meant to reach 200 teachers, administrators and students. Students who visit the concentration camp in Poland will also take part in an educational seminar about anti-Semitism.

Anti-Semitic incidents are at a “record level” in the UK.
