Breitbart Writer Ran Secret White Supremacist Facebook Group

A frequent contributor to the right-wing news website Breitbart moonlighted as a moderator of a British Facebook group that frequently featured racist, anti-Semitic and “alt-right” content, the British anti-racist group Hope Not Hate revealed last week.
Jack Hadfield was one of the four moderators of the “Young Right Society” Facebook group, which had over 200 members and billed itself as “a place for those who are on the Right…to discuss politics, philosophy, and general Right-wing stuff with as little censorship or government intervention as possible.”
While some group members were more moderate, others were described by Hope Not Hate as “open fascists and nazis [and] well-known alt-right figures.” Members posted Holocaust jokes, anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, and memes copying Nazi and neo-Nazi imagery. Statuses demonstrated support for the white nationalist marchers in Charlottesville and jailed neo-Nazis. One member called Jo Cox, a member of parliament who was murdered last year by a far-right terrorist, a “virtue-signaling, more-progressive-than-thou c***.”
As moderator, Hadfield had the ability to ban members and delete posts, but evidently chose not to do so. “I thought a lot of posts were inappropriate,” he told ThinkProgress. “That doesn’t mean I’m going to ban them. That’s what free speech is.”
Hadfield, a British college student who first wrote for Breitbart after he refused to attend his university’s sexual consent classes, has now written over 200 articles for the website.
