Jeffrey Tambor Resigns From ‘Transparent’ After Accusations Of Sexual Misconduct

Jeffrey Tambor, the star of the award-winning hit TV show “Transparent,” announced he is leaving the show after being accused by two women of sexual misconduct, the New York Times reported.

Tambor denies the accusations, brought by a co-star and a former assistant.

“I’ve already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being aggressive, but the idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue,” he told Deadline Sunday night. “Given the politicized atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don’t see how I can return to ‘Transparent.’”

The first accusation against Tambor came from his former assistant earlier this month. Amazon opened an investigation, and last week Trace Lysette, a supporting actor on “Transparent,” came forward with her story.

In the wake of the allegations, Amazon officials had already begun considering writing Tambor off the show’s planned fifth season. Tambor has won awards for his portrayal of Maura Pfefferman, the transgender matron of a Jewish family in Los Angeles.

“I know I haven’t always been the easiest person to work with,” Tambor said. “But I have never been a predator — ever.”
