Roy Moore’s Foundation Took Donation From Pro-Nazi 9/11 ‘Truther’ Group

A foundation run by Roy Moore, the Republican Party’s candidate for the Alabama U.S. senate seat, accepted a contribution from a group founded by a Nazi white supremacist.
The Huffington Post reported that in 2005, the Foundation for Moral Law, a non-profit founded and operated by Moore, accepted a $1,000 contribution from the Foundation to Defend the First Amendment, an organization set up by Willis Carto, one of America’s most vocal Nazi supporters. Carto died in 2015.
The donation is not connected to Moore’s political campaign.
Carto is described in the HuffPost article as “one of the most notable leaders of the racist and anti-Semitic far right in the U.S. after World War II.” His foundation made numerous donations to Holocaust deniers in Europe and Canada, as well as contributions to 9/11 truthers in the U.S.
At the time the donation was made to Moore’s group, the Foundation to Defend the First Amendment was headed by Jim Tucker Jr., a protege of Carto, and its board members included Christopher Bollyn, who had claimed Israel is behind the 9/11 terror attacks.
Neither Moore’s campaign nor his foundation responded to HuffPost requests for comment.
