Michael Feinstein Lists $15.9M Luxe Manhattan Townhouse
Michael Feinstein, the Broadway and cabaret star, is putting his luxe townhouse on Manhattan’s Upper East Side on the market for $15.9 million – one of the most expensive potential sales in New York City.
Feinstein’s home on East 63rd Street includes a grand music room with a Steinway piano, six bedrooms, two kitchens, eight bathrooms and vaulted pre-war-style ceilings. It also has a meditation room and a generous backyard with ivy-covered walls.
Feinstein fondly recalled to the New York Post the parties he threw in the townhouse, where celebrities like Stephen Sondheim and Elaine Stritch would turn up. “When I was in my formative years in California, I’d go to Hollywood parties hosted by Rosemary Clooney, or the Gershwins or Jack Lemmon. Everyone would come and sing and play. We had them here, and I tried to continue the tradition,” he said.
He and partner Terrence Flannery plan to purchase a smaller New York home once the sale goes through, but are also spending more time in Indiana, where he directs the Center of the Performing Arts.
