When Is Yom Kippur
Yom Kippur 2017, the Jewish Day of Atonement, will begin on Friday evening, September 29, and will end the evening of Saturday, September 30.
The date of Yom Kippur is determined according to the Hebrew calendar. Yom Kippur occurs 10 days after the Jewish New Year,Rosh Hashanah. This year, Yom Kippur also falls on Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath. Yom Kippur fasting is observed by many Jews around the world. Often, friends and family end their fast together with light meal after the holiday — here are some breakfast ideas from our Food section.
