Aly Raisman Slams American Gymnastics Group Over ‘Monster’ Doctor
Aly Raisman is calling a doctor who allegedly molested gymnasts a “monster” — and wants to know what the American gymnastics body plans to do about it.
The Olympic gold medal winner, is demanding sweeping changes after team doctor Larry Nassar has been imprisoned on child pornography charges and faces allegations of abusing 125 female gymnasts.
“Nobody has said, ‘This is horrible, this is what we’re doing to change,’” Raisman told the Guardian
Nassar, who spent nearly 30 years as an osteopath with the USA Gymnastics program, has pleaded not guilty to the assault charges. He also faces scores of civil suits accusing him of molesting atheletes under the guise of treatment.
Raisman, who was regularly in contact with Nassar regularly at the team’s training facility in Texas, wouldn’t say if she was treated improperly by Nassar.
“Whether or not he did it to a gymnast, they still knew him,” Raisman said. “Even if he didn’t do it to you, it’s still the trauma and the anxiety of wondering what could have happened.
